After my diy weaving project i felt like i needed another challenge so i decided to tackle another large scale project that s been on my list a diy rug from scratch.
How to make an area rug out of fabric.
Spray adhesive and attach.
I desperately needed a new rug and i tirelessly searched for one that i absolutely loved that was also.
An area rug adds color and texture to your home and if you have large scraps of fabric lying around you can turn them into your own area rugs.
I made a huge diy rug 5 8 from scratch with just a handful of supplies.
All you need is some rope a no slip pad and a hot glue gun.
And you can make one too any size you want.
Why not use coordinating home decor fabric.
This project is going to end that i am going to use fabric to make a custom rug so my color and pattern options are endless and i will get exactly what i want in color style and size.
Make rugs made from old clothes or from bedsheets or simply buy fabric from the craft store to get a rug in the colors and textures that you want.
I buy it because i need the function of the rug to wipe feet or protect the floor.
Lay the cotton batting on top of the rug pad also pressing out any creases or folds.
Lay the no slip rug pad on the floor.
Then lay the fabric right side up on top of those two layers making sure it is nice and flat as well image 1.
No sewing is required to make this natural looking rug.
You can turn any heavy duty upholstery fabric into a fabulous area rug to get the exact look you want.
