Let the ice melt for at least a few hours.

If the carpet has a dent that is very large or long you may need to place a couple of ice cubes to fill the spot.

Hold the iron 4 to 6 inches 10 to 15 cm over the carpet and apply a steady jet of steam to the affected area.
Place a damp cloth over the indentation.
First place an ice cube in the carpet dent.
Fill a steam iron with water.
The ice cubes will slowly melt and after 12 hours blot up any wet spots with an absorbent towel or sponge.
