The only exception to this is when you are using glitter vinyl it needs a super sticky transfer paper.

In my experience htv is way better on canvas than adhesive vinyl.

The whole canvas was dry in under an hour and paint could still be applied to it and holy of holy s the vinyl stuck.
My heat press has a 15x15 plate.
After several months i find that the adhesive vinyl will start to pull away from the canvas.
I am not going to go into creating a design for this project because the design that i chose was free from the internet.
So if you want a longer lasting canvas project i would use heat transfer vinyl on canvas.
When using adhesive vinyl painting the surface is a must.
